It seems that with the increase in the use of mobile phones and computers, fewer people prefer to write letters. Will the skill of writing disappear completely? Over the last few decades, we are witness to a rapidly growing number of smartphone users especially for business or unofficial communications with loved ones. This has made an overwhelming majority of people write much pretty fewer letters in its traditional form which in fact made many a critic claims that this can result in devastating/damaging the writing skills in the long run. While this argument is not necessarily right, many opine that it can change the methods we used to write in one way or another. Speaking of the hectic pace of life, we have to accept the undeniable fact that many people nowadays do not have any other choice but to relying upon on the electronic mails called email. Though writing an email does not require traditional materials such as a pen and paper, this type of writing just like its traditional counterpart demands the same skills such as acceptable lexical resources, grammatical range and accuracy besides correct punctuations and an appropriate tone to convey correctly what the writer intends to write. In addition to this, compared to the traditional form of writing the composer can express his feelings in an absolutely superior way with the available emojis which was were not handy in the traditional method. The only negative point that may impact letter writing skills is the devastating effect email can have on handwriting. People in this day and age may do not care about handwriting reasoning rarely do others see how neat their handwriting is. That today people from all walks of life are gradually forgetting about the aesthetic and other visual parts of a letter is an indisputable fact. More often write writing a letter on a computer and printing it on a beautiful piece of paper with any kind of font do not leave a place to practice on handwriting, says a fresh graduate student who took part in a survey regarding new methods of writings. To cut a long story short, people today by and large are writing more than before, and this can lead to individuals improving their writing skills. It is high time critics stopped criticizing new technological advances saying the new methods of writing letters have ruined this otherwise perfect way of communications.
