Do you agree or disagree? Young people today have no influence on the important decisions that determine the future of society as a whole. There has been much discussion revolving around the issue of how to strike balance between the young and old workforce. Some people assert that the government should give priority to young people, whereas others argue that the elder generation has edge over young people. I am personally in favor of the former view. To begin with, experience has always been the only reason which has been given/cited by people being against young people. In fact, they maintain that experience plays a vital role in success which younger individuals are deprived of. Consequently, they cannot put their trust in them and turn responsibilities over to them. On the contrary, I maintain that young people benefit from their strong creativity. Moreover, due to developments in technology, information and others’ people’s experience are accessible. In fact, we can consider people’s mistakes in our decisions without making them. As a result, creativity and the information age can compensate for their lack of experiences. Despite the importance of experience, I believe that it can reinforce the stereotypes and increase our resistance against novel solutions. That is to say, having less practical skill and knowledge at work compared to the experienced people, the young workforce might find proper solutions. However, I admit that since education in most of the countries is based on theory, students’ practical knowledge is less than their theoretical counterparts. As a result, the community does not trust them implicitly. Without a doubt, keeping the young generation from the job market and decisive positions is not the long-term answer to this flaw. To sum up, I opine that each generation is special and they are not comparable with each other. In other words, each generation has its own ability which society and government should make the most of it. I wholeheartedly believe that the only way to facilitate society’s development in all aspects is consolidating every single member’s potential and filling positions according to meritocracy regardless of gender, race, and age.
