Many people believe that family has a greater influence on a child’s life and development compared to other factors, such as friends, TV, music and so on. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Children’s personality mainly is shapes shaped in the family environment. Some believe that some factors outside the family such as friends and television affect children more than parents. I would argue that although media and peers have a deep impact on children’s conduct and insight, parents’ role is undeniable and more critical. Being born with a limited capability of physical activities, children rely on their parents from an early age. Since children learn from watching and imitating their family’s behavior during their first and most critical years, there is an undeniable fact that parents play an active role on nurturing them. Children often have an ambition to be like their parents or to gain their acceptance because they assume parents as their role model. The fact that most of the children have differences in behavior and attitudes with their parents proves that some other factors exert an influence on them as well. There are factors external to the family that significantly impact on a child’s development. Spending time in front of the television and watching different programs, children see many things that will teach about life. Friends also have an important influence as everyone wants to be like others. only when the children’s characteristics are built with moral values and assertiveness, can parents expect their children to preserve themselves from repercussions of social communication. Experiences from all over the world prove the major role of parents on nurturing children, the television and friend cannot lessen the impact of an unhealthy family replete with difficulties for a child. To put it in a nutshell, it is the family that can provide a supportive and secure environment for a child, which is crucial to the way in which a child becomes an adult. Although other factors can influence children such as their friends and television, but it is pales into comparison with parents’ role.
