Some think that it is better to get information or advice from other people, while others believe one can get any information or advice from the Internet or books. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Traditionally, people are have been used to exchanging information based on a person-to-person approach. While this has been quite successful for centuries, with the advent of Information Technology, it is losing its traction over time. In ancient times, the only widely available way of communication was through word of mouth. People would get and disseminate any information from and to the people whom they trusted more, simply by verbal communication. Even in this day and age, direct interaction has kept its value, especially among friends and families where strong bonds exist. This method is most evident in medical matters, meaning that family members give advice on certain home remedies to cure one another on the basis of the trust that has been built up among themselves. Although home treatments, or in general, non-expert recommendations in medicine might sometimes work and present some merits, the risk of failure it they carries carry is often detrimental and even discouraged by the medical community. Another popular way of getting to know a particular topic is through the Internet where you can explore a bountiful source of information. Pros here have more weight to them, as it is both faster and more effortless to inquire about issues in which you are interested. Moreover, traditional books are now also available online, which brings an added value to the already enriched Internet. However, one might still lose track and land on fake websites, thereby receiving misinformation instead. Wikipedia, for instance, has been around for more than a decade which still lacks some quality-related attributes. In fact, many entries in Wikipedia are not credible, and therefore people need to carefully survey any article before holding on to it or putting it into practice. It could then be presumed that both proposed methods have their own upsides and pitfalls at the same time. Hence, a combination of modern and traditional information gathering would most likely suit everyone better.
