Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Obviously, residing in a new country has its ups and downs, and it can be considered a seemingly valuable experience. Some social and practical issues, however, will be beginning to appear one after another for the non-natives which can overwhelm them owing to some barriers such as a different tongue and culture. Unfortunately, a new place to live where locals talk in a foreign language has its hardships, especially the social ones. These problems are the confluence of the lack of the communication ability and misunderstanding of the culture. When hardly are newcomers able to speak the tongue, they cannot establish a proper relationship effortlessly, thereby being more likely to loneliness. Thus, they cannot involve themselves in the community and subsequently they may be depressed. Another difficulty which has been cited as the cultural issues associated with living in a foreign country is culture shock. Since many cultural hindrance lay ahead on the way of the foreigners, they need time to understand the new society’s way of life and thereafter they may have to reshape their own culture and adapt to new traditions. Practical obstacles have been quoted as the other common issues which immigrants are struggling with while they are living among people who has a strange way of speaking. Whilst being as a critically important matter, finding a job will turn into a worryingly insurmountable situation for ones who cannot communicate appropriately with natives. Therefore, they may be tend to work illegally, and afterwards will inevitably face its imminent struggles. Consequently, although many could deal with some related issues of living in a new society with a new tongue by immersing themselves into the culture, others cannot manage to defeat them, so those difficulties bring about both cultural and practical problems for non-locals.
