The figure presents the mean of carbon dioxide which had been emitted in a specific period of time from 1967 to 2007 in four different countries, United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal by each human being. At first look, it can be obviously seen that both the United Kingdom and Sweden ended up with a reduction in carbon emissions at the end of period in 2007, less than nine tonnes and more than five tonnes respectively, while the two other two countries, that is Italy and Portugal, had a marked increase in it. Additionally, the only country that followed a carbon emission reduction plan over the whole period was the United Kingdom. Although having risen to around 10.5 tonnes between 1967 to 1977, carbon emissions shows a deep collapse for Sweden to more than five tonnes after 1977. Furthermore, volume of CO2 trend had increased in Italy and Portugal over the forty years. The emissions in Italy, however, remained steady at 7.8 tonnes in last ten years between 1997 to 2007. Whereas in the United Kingdom carbon dioxide emissions followed a decreasing trend, each person there causes emissions more than that in other countries which was around 11 tonnes in 1967 and around nine tonnes in 2007. In Portugal, it was strikingly lower than other countries at the beginning of period around one tonne, but in 2007 it reached to its maximum in Portugal which was more than five tonnes. In overall, the only country faced a slightly reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from 1967 to 2007 was the United Kingdom, based on the picture. Other countries experienced a growth. However, after 1977, no longer did Sweden follow increasing trend and had a sharp decrease.
