Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problem, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Starting to live in a country with a different language, people might face a range of obstacles. Whereas some argue that the hardship leads to them suffering from significant social and practical issues, it seems the whole process will be of great benefit to them. On the one hand, dealing with a language barrier in an all new place is often thought to be the source of frustration. On the social side, people setting out to live in a country with a new language might feel the sense of isolation. While trying to assimilate into a new country, not only should they find new friends and acquaintances to communicate with, but also, in many cases, they should cope with a new alien culture. Furthermore, in the working environment, the communication might become so excruciating that it results in them being an underperformer. What these difficulties might lead to is deterring them from social interaction and struggling with the financial burden, which might cause damaging impacts on their overall well-being. On the other hand, it is even more important to know that these problems can be overcome. In spite of being arduous and frustrating, these problems can make these people push their boundaries. In today’s day and age, the populace of the countries where foreigners choose to settle has become far more welcoming. Besides, the notion of diversity is globally encouraged by both the government and communities, for it allows them to benefit from the most able citizens of each nation. Moreover, with the advent of technology, problems resulting from language barrier has been significantly mitigating. For example, by using online translators, employers are capable of understanding any assignments which they are assigned to. In conclusion, although life in a new country might lead to some discomfort in the beginning, I am holding on to the view that neither social nor practical problems are serious, and even in a long run, it will be beneficial for people who choose to leave their comfort zone and live in a new country.
