Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads. To what extent do you agree or dis agree with this statement? The question of how the governments should spend money on different types of transportation infrastructures has emerged as one of the most controversial discussions of the modern era. Some people believe that governmental budgets must definitely goes for railways instead of roads, which I strongly agree with. In this essay I will explore some of my reasons in particular. People are dying in car accidents every day. Obviously, if they have a safer way to commute, why would they choose driving in on dangerous roads? For sure, if they have had a cheaper available substitute, also offering less fewer casualties, they would absolutely use it. Train accidents are so rare. Therefore, it could be an efficient replacement for private cars and buses. If a city hadhas strong integrated subway stations, covering all over the city, people would surely take a the cheaper, less stressful and faster train instead of their own cars. Furthermore, sometimes people are too young or old to have a driving license, but they could easily reach their destinations by public trains, no matter how old they are or what situation they have. Last but not least, today's people, especially in metropolises suffer from air pollution, which is mostly caused by traffic congestion. By developing rail networks, gradually trains and subways would supersede cars and roads, hence less pollutions and cleaner air. In conclusion, as I mentioned before, trains in comparison with other transportation vehicles, not only has have less casualties, but also would lead to cleaner air and more convenient travel. For all these reasons, although we must take the geographical situation into considerations, generally I believe that it is a prudent idea and should take/get a priority.
