Some people choose to have their first child at an older age. What are the reasons? Do advantages outweigh disadvantages? Recent decades have seen a rise in the attitude of having the first child at an older age. There are some underlying reasons about this phenomenon which its whose drawbacks eclipse the merits. The first reason as to why parents have turned to this issue could be making their dreams come true. For example, the couples (who are) willing to pursue their studies in further education find it difficult to manage their time to raise their children, making preference to shirk this responsibility in the early years of their marriage. Furthermore, some newlyweds believe that well financial preparation is of high importance to have a child, since they are willing to provide their kids with all facilities. That means they try to be financially stable ilized, climbing the career ladder when they are younger and more energetic to work. However, it seems that this approach would entail some consequences. Firstly, this is far more likely to bring about a generation gap between parents and their children, which leads to some differences in values, beliefs, attitudes and much more besides. In this case, it is quite probable those family members would not be able to spend good time together as they tend not to understand each other. Moreover, some physical and mental problems might derive from delaying childbirth. For instance, the aged parents, particularly women might have less physical ability to give birth to a child where health problems would threaten both mothers and their infants. Also, parents fail to have adequate patience and energy to devote to their children compared to their youth . (arguably autism is associated with late childbirth) In conclusion, I would argue that the parents taking parental role with a delay have some reasons which, in my opinion, would negatively affect both children and parents in many ways.
