Q: Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in future, such as those related to science and technology. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Nowadays, a lot of people tend to continue their education in universities in order to find decent jobs with the right privileges. It is often argued that students should decide to study fields related to science and technology whilst others disagree and think pupils should feel free to choose what filed they want to pursue in university or college. This essay will discuss both the positive and negative aspects of the aforementioned opinions. One the one hand, while there are benefits to studying science-based fields like engineering, there are also some drawbacks. The most important reason why achieving a license certificate in tech-related areas is beneficial is finding jobs with higher wages compared to other prevalent jobs in society. The more you search between newspapers for job positions, the more you find occupations that required experience and knowledge in science-related majors. What is obtained byobtaining university degrees in engineering majors may be being offeroffered in terms of a job opportunity; however, they lack in terms of passion for some students. For example, I know a lot of people who have chosen to study engineering or medical sciences only due to their parents’ request, and now they are depressed regretful and disappointed as to why they did not decide to follow their field of interest. Moreover, they always confess that if theyI had followed their heartchosen my part, I they would not have been facing reluctance to finish my their bachelor studies now. In my opinion, these are the most apparent pros and cons of studying in a predestined field. One the other hand, some people always feel free to follow their passions, and most of them believe that great successes come from having the freedom to fail. The major reason human beings should decide themselves rather than accepting others’ opinions is not having a sense of regret. Although the predominant thought in our society is having a secure job, most entrepreneurs come out of thinking in their own direction. However, what the following desired studies make up for terms of passion may undermine a high chance of failing. Statistically, you are far more likely to be broke as a drums player than a civil engineer. Even though it can be concluded from the last paragraph that choosing your desired career can be dangerous for your financial situation, I would prefer to take my chances and invest on in my abilities.In conclusion, this essay discussed differences in pursuing science-based fields such as engineering or desired majors like art in the university. Although both views have merit, I think the best decision involves inner satisfaction.
