Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. It is claimed that sport stars' salaries are much higher than those of other people who perform critical jobs such as doctors, surgeons, entrepreneurs or politics. There has been much discussion revolving around the issue of whether this income gap is reasonable or not. While there are many contributing factors to the contrary, I would argue that the fact that they are under intense pressure and has have a limited time to play sports and earn money entitles them to receive a huge salary. On the one hand, many people from all walks of life contribute to development of their countries. There are a multitude of professions turning the wheels of economy or saving individuals’ life. That the consequences of these activities will linger in society and benefit other citizens is an undeniable fact. For example, not only can an entrepreneur penetrate the market with his services and consequently bring profit to the industry, but also he can create many jobs and help the government to combat unemployment and poverty. A shining example of this is Steve Jobs who was an American business magnate who revolutionized the personal computer industry in the United States, thereby helping the economic growth. On the other hand, participating in international contests, athletics can provoke a sense of national pride amongst citizens. It is worth mentioning that it requires a great deal of perseverance and stamina to overcome insurmountable stumbling blocks to become an international sport figure. That is to say, many an athlete endures a lot of pressure mentally and physically. For example, they have to do vigorous exercise regularly and stick to specialized diets. Moreover, due to the physical injuriesdamages of practicing hard these individuals will retire so much sooner than their counterparts who perform other professions, hence the importance of earning a lot of money in order to maintain their standards of living in their senior years. For instance, they will sustain an injury which making them immobile and deprived of making their ends meet for the rest of their life. In conclusion, while there are many key roles in society contributing to country's development, due to the fact that athletes are exerted to a great deal of pressure to represent their country and fly a flag for it I found find their high income rather justified.
