It is generally agreed that society benefits from the work of its members. Compare the contributions of artists to society with the contributions of scientists to society. Which type of contribution do you think is valued more by your society? Give specific reasons to support your answer. Society bears its meaning when every single member of it has something to offer in order to build a strong community. Providing an appropriate basis for citizens to study and work benefits the whole system to function efficiently. While some groups believe that by mastering in scientific fields they have provided a healthy life and high-quality facilities to for the public, others think that the onus is on artists whose act shaped shapes society’s culture and its mutual identity. The history of humans living on earth have has had many tragedies in which a vast majority of people were dying out as a result of deadly diseases. Until 1960, polio has destroyed many lives as children were the main group who suffered from this nightmare. Flulike symptoms and destruction in motor cells which caused paralysis were the main symptoms that were observed in mostly children and young adults. Developments in medicine have changed humans’ lives as vaccines were discovered and injected to immunize people against this illness. The other perfect example that shows the importance of science for the society is discovering antibiotic drugs which resulted in curing harmful bacterial infections. Therefore, advances in medical fields have saved many lives and increased the general wellbeing in the society. The other achievements that is owed to scientific improvements are technological means which revolutionized the way people live. Scientists devoted their time and energy to hypothesize hypothesizing theories which finally led them to discover or invent things that changed the whole world forever. The greatest progress in electrical fields such as invention of electricity, light bulbs or electric motors has paved the way to for the world of major creations such as building means of transportation which was a an enormous achievement. The internet is considered the other revolutionary accomplishment that has affected the way that humans comprehend the world. As a result, these progresses eventually made life easier and increased humans’ curiosity for discovering other worlds and living on other planets. On the other hand, science is not the only field that can save a community. Art acts as a blood through the veins of a society in a way that makes humans’ lives worth living. Artistic ideas play a vital role in shaping society’s culture. Countries have specific ceremonies in which they express their cultural norms and create a mutual identity that acts as a signature. Every country has its special art which in my country is weaving carpets that have has made Persian’s rugs well-known around the world. As a consequence, artists by their work give meaning to our life and help their people become more creative and open-minded. In my country, there is so much focus on behalf of the government on scientific fields that they allocate huge funds to the projects because they believe that it results in improved welfare and makes life easier. However, it should be considered that valuing aesthetic fields could bring meaning to the everyday lives of citizens, which cannot be ignored.
