If you could travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, what person would you like to meet? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice. Behind every story in the history of the world there is an indelible impression of central figures who had changed the destiny of the people and history. This is why it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have the opportunity to analyze these individuals in person. While there are eminent characters whose distinguishing marks has have carved out a niche in history, If I were given a chance to travel back in time, I would choose Cyrus the great to meet because I believe that he was a great leader, tried to establish equal rights and was unbelievably motivated. First of all, the reign of Cyrus, the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, lasted about 30 years and had created the largest empire the world had to that pointyet seen. He respected the customs and religions of the lands that he conquered and established a government in different areas which was a sign that showed his care about its citizens. Besides, as he took over the control of a region, he avoided any bloodshed and instead, made their former rulers to become his own minister in order to have their experience. Therefore, the way he led his territory could be a great example for modern countries. Moreover, while at the same time in Greece women had no right to express themselves in the community, there were significant women in Cyrus time who had a position in military. Besides, evidence shows that they had maternity leaves in that time, were land owners and had legal rights to inherit property (heir). The Cyrus charter of human rights is known as the first declaration of human rights which shows his mindset regard to the value he had for his people. As a result, his effort to hold equal rights could set an example for many. Finally, the stream of history is filled with people whose acts have made generations go through a misery. Wars, genocides and slavery are what some authoritarian societies have left for the future. However, there is a man who put a question to people as to that how someone could be that motivated to lead such a huge empire in the best possible way that even after centuries his deeds are still surprising and admirable. As a consequence, Cyrus’ mentality could be a great example to those who believe that they are incapable of making a change in their lives. To sum up, to me Cyrus was a great man whom I would choose to meet in person. I suggest that what can save humans from making the same mistakes, is through reading history, especially Cyrus’s era because what he contributed to the world is a guidance for leading societies, a perfect model for equality and an example of a motivated mentality for those who are lulled into complacency.
