Some people believe that for a hobby to be enjoyable it should be hard to acquire or learn. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Throughout history, men always have craven craved different ways to be amused. Since childhood, living in a world which is made of toys and games, we start to form a desire to entertain others and be entertained by them, and this strong desire sometimes becomes so difficult to fulfill that many believe it is the hardship to learn a hobby which makes it pleasant and satisfying; I, however, disagree. To begin with, the primary purpose of hobbies is to bring us pleasure, albeit evanescent. What we do in our pastime is only a way to distract ourselves from the obstacles which we are supposed to surmount. Although occasionally a pastime activity can turn into a deadly serious passion for some which may even pivot their life and determine the choices they make, this should give no more value to the activity per se than it deserves, taking over other significant parts of life. This transformation in prioritization may cause one to mistreat others since it is not taken as seriously as one believes. This is so grave an issue that may cause irreparable harm to both individuals and society. Moreover, people’s opinions on the difficulty of a task or activity may vary wildly. Rarely do we see a unanimous vote on the hardship of entertainment, and this, albeit uncanny, comes from the fact that our world is governed by relativity. One’s giant leap could be another’s a small step. Many parents, for instance, put a large deal of pressure on their children because ostensibly they are a huge believer of in “practice makes perfect” but in fact, they try to satisfy/pursue their own passion, and it is crystal clear where this sadism comes from. To conclude, despite the fact that a hobby could be a strong passion or even a career for many, I believe no one needs to experience a any kind of sufferings, either inflicted by others or themselves, in order to enjoy it.
