Many students have to study subjects which they do not like. Some people think this is a complete waste of time. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? It is true that studying certain subjects, whether students like it or not, has been a compulsory part of many education systems, and it seems to me it cannot be considered entirely useless. Firstly, most of the core subjects are often considered essential for children to survive in today’s day and age. This school curriculum, which has been designed by pedagogical pioneers in recent decades, is mostly predicated on the next generations’ needs and basic requirements for the jobs of tomorrow. While still attending the educational settings, a student needs to get a hold of core lessons such as math, science, and linguistics, to name just a few. Short of being equipped with these subjects whether they are of the interest of his or not, not only would they be less likely to navigate a successful life in society, but also they would be more likely to face far more arduous issues to wrestle with in the years to come. Secondly, many a student is not mature enough to hold a strong opinion about their likes or dislikes. Being in brain development stage, pupils need to try a wide variety of subjects, most of which might be unpalatable, before aiming to pursue a specific path in either a university major or a future job. By trying those unpleasant courses, students would gain well thought off insight to majors which may not be suitable for them, and as a result, they can save a lot of otherwise wasted time in a long run. A student, moreover, would be more conscious of the value of being industrious. Obliged to assimilate the presumably unsatisfactory subjects in school, they would turn out more rounded as a person, for they would find out about their infinite potentials to overcome any obstacle that life throws at them. In conclusion, I am holding on to the view that the process of learning every subject will be of some benefits to students, and it, if devised correctly, will help them to get a fair chance to prosper. shahroq
