Many people believe that reducing speed limits is the best option for road safety improvement. Do you think there are other measures that could be put in place? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this? An array of people assume that imposing some speed limitations is the best choice in regard to increasing the safety in roads. Some others, however, assert that there are other approaches to attain this goal. I, personally, believe that declining speed limit is an effective factor for reducing accidents. This short essay will discuss this issue. First and foremost, initiating some programs related to the implication of having a collision during driving can be a beneficial tool to increase the awareness of people. Not only does it warn them, but also these programs teach them to be significantly more careful while driving. Further and even more importantly, designing an electronic device for reminding drivers of the speed limit especially when their speed is higher than the permitted one is another appropriate suggestion. Last but not least, it is not rational to consider limiting speed the best solution for having safe roads, for there is a huge number of reason for accidents. The case in point is vehicles with technical problems. Tiring of following a hectic life style, individuals do not have enough time to check their cars. That is why, legislating some rules to persuade them to check their cars regularly could be beneficial. That placing speed restrictions in roads has deluge of merits is irrefutable. For instance, a research, done in south of Iran, showed that after putting speed cameras in roads, the rate of car accidents decreased by roughly 34 percent. As opposed, some people think that speed cameras are distracting, because drivers need to pay attention to them all the time. On the whole, in my opinion although other means are of the great benefits, reducing speed limits is the most important tool for increasing safety in roads.
