TOPIC: Using a computer every day can have more negative than positive effects on young children. Do you agree or disagree? Give reason for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. The introduction of the computer and the internet has had a profound effect on the lives of our children. Today, computers have become extremely common, with nearly every children having access to one. Through this extensive use, children become closely connected with computers, using them at home, at school, or in any other places. As computers play a key role in the lives of children, it is important to ask what impact they are having. First of all, the increasing use of computers causes the reduction in the physical activity for of the kids. It has been seen that children using computers everyday may lack physical exercise and have critical health issues. Sitting in front of the screen, children may end up with obesity. Children who spend many hours in front of the computer have a greater risk of developing computer ergonomics problems such as vision syndrome. Secondly, not only are the kids getting addicted to the screen, but also it is very harmful for their academic and social developments. Conducted research reveals overuse of the computer affects their studies because the kids are unable to concentrate on them. Wasting their important time in front of the screen, the kids have less efficiency in their school subjects. Last but not the least the kids and teens are also using the internet on their computer systems. They use the internet for the social networking and to watching the online contents. Sometimes the kids and teens browse the adult contents on the computer and it puts very negative effect on their mind. To put in a nut shell, In spite of the beneficial aspects of computers, I tend to believe that the negative effects of using computers excessively outweigh the positive ones. Therefore, parents’ supervision is compulsory to ensure that their children use computers for educational purposes by setting guidelines for them.
