70. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Grades encourage students to learn. Disagree: 1‐ some alternatives baseline like cooperate with other students, experiment, With the progress of teaching systems and performing numerous psychological tests this topic has been raised as to that whether appraising quantity and quality of learning by scoring systems in diverse curriculums can be a productive means or not? I myself disagree with this conventional measure. First and foremost, the aim of teaching and learning procedure is far beyond exclusively learning some definite subjects and evaluate students’ knowledge by scoring different exams. On the other hand, teachers should inspire students to keep abreast of the most recent inventions. Furthermore, students should be encouraged to persevere pursue their innovative ideas. I believe that not only does giving grades not encourage pupils to learn more diverse related topics, rather it restricts their creativity and sense of adventure. Take learning science as an example. Strange though it seems, I maintain that the mentioned method dissuades students from continuing to continue their scientific ambitions and performing various experiments to continue ideas that sparkles to their mind. Secondly, contemporary teaching experts have concluded that there are some alternative baselines for evaluation of students’ knowledge. As an example, teachers can divide students into teams and award the most successful group in replication of a scientific discovery or being successful in devising novel methods in different scopes. In addition, scoring systems eliminate a sense of cooperation and cause collaboration to pale into insignificance. Being Successful in getting higher scores, students can be condescendinged to their peers. And last but not least, what can be more important than the pleasure of the learning process? Giving grades to exams quantify everything and may ignore its quality. Moreover, students are compelled to recite contents of their books and pamphlets without assimilating them. In my opinion, giving grades means the higher score you get, the more intelligent students you are but in my opinion and this is a fallacy. To put it in a nutshell, were I to choose between the options, I would vote against this sentence that grades can motivate students to learn more.
